Psychology Instructor

Lorain County Community College (LCCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Psychology within the Division of Social Sciences and Human Services. LCCC is seeking innovative student-centered instructors who place student academic achievement and success as top priorities. The assignment would center on teaching sections of Introduction to Psychology, Developmental, as well as Personality, Social, and Abnormal psychology. The standard teaching responsibility is 15 credits per semester. Summer session teaching is optional. The Department of Psychology houses the recently designed Psychology Learning and Research Lab utilized for both faculty and student research. The successful candidate will be expected to advise and mentor students, help develop and promote the undergraduate research program, participate in program development and review, actively support the college, division, and department mission, and fulfill other standard responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members.
Qualifications: Candidates must have at least a master’s degree in psychology (Ph.D. or PsyD. preferred). College teaching experience is required along with experience with distance learning and interactive classroom technologies. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and innovative active learning approaches. Commitment to undergraduate research mentoring and evidence of continued professional development and teaching effectiveness is expected. Experience working in multicultural environments and with diverse student populations is preferred. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
Applicants selected for interview will be asked to deliver a short presentation demonstrating their teaching skills and their ability to integrate technology into the learning process.
Starting salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary is supported by a comprehensive fringe benefits package. Position pending budget approval by the Board.
