Part-Time Instructor of Teacher Education Position ID: 19153 HideLocation Institution: Atlanta Metropolitan State College College/Div/School: Social Sciences HidePosition Description New Position?: No Job Class: Part-Time Instructor Job Description: (Internal Use Only - PVA 66667) Classification Title: Part-Time Instructor of Teacher Education Position Type: Faculty Department: Social Science Job Summary/Basic Function: Atlanta Metropolitan College, a four-year unit of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications for Part-Time Faculty to teach during the day, evening and weekends. The College currently serves approximately 3,000 commuting students on its main campus located at 1630 Metropolitan Parkway, S.W., and on its downtown site located at 34 Peachtree Street. The Temporary Faculty position teaches classes and performs all duties associated with faculty staff, for a temporary period of time. Essential Duties: Teaches and lectures classes. Performs other teaching duties including grading papers, researching information, creating quizzes and assignments, and sitting in on committees. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Master's degree from an accredited college and 18 graduate semester hours (or 30 graduate quarter hours) in secondary, middle grades, or early childhood/elementary education with a current State of Georgia dear renewable teaching certificate. A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a Georgia public school system as the foil-time In-field teacher of record is strongly preferred. The college is building a repository of qualified part-time faculty. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Strong oral and written communication, listening, and organizational skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others. Requires the ability to use small office equipment including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems. Requires the ability to use computers for data entry. Requires the ability to use computers for word processing and/or accounting purposes. May require the ability to use highly technical computer applications. An in-field grade level doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
