Position Title: ACT English Instructor/Coach Department: Educational Outreach Opening Date: May 15, 2013 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Status: Part Time, Temporary Salary: $25 per hour JOB DESCRIPTION - SUMMER ACT MATH/ENGLISH EMPOWERMENT BOOT CAMP: The ACT English Summer Boot Camp is an intense, fast-paced, ACT preparation-driven instructional experience for students who are willing to commit two weeks of summer vacation to improving their ACT scores in English. Instructor Qualifications, Responsibilities, and Compensation are as follows: QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates for the position will display: In-depth knowledge of ACT testing in English A dynamic and engaging teaching style with experience in highly intensive drilling techniques Effective communication skills working with students/tutor Experience with Computer-based ACT prep- testing Patience, sincerity, and compassion in a fast-paced boot camp setting RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist high school students in the mastery of ACT prep-testing in English skills with primary objective of passing ACT college entrance exam Facilitate and assist students daily in computer-based practice ACT prep- testing Work with tutor on best practices in developing ACT English Skills in a limited time frame Monitor and record student progress COMPENSATION & PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment is on a part-time basis. The instructor will work 20 hours per week for a period of two weeks (10 days) during the Summer ACT English Empowerment Boot Camp. Salary is $25 per hour Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference. If selected for the position, the applicant is subject to a complete background investigation with favorable determination.
