MAJOR FUNCTION: The Administrative Assistant is a grant funded position housed within the Florida Department of Education. The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Regional Executive Director. The Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for preparing, typing, and submitting travel requests and forms as needed for staff to claim reimbursement of expenses. The position also answers telephone in a courteous and professional manner and handles communication as appropriate. The Administrative Assistant also engages proactively in day-to-day operations, maintenance, and workspace needs to maintain a productive work environment.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma from an accredited institution and administrative or clerical experience.

Ability to meet tight deadlines, balance multiple and competing priorities, and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance, sometimes under stressful conditions. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word programs. Ability to operate copiers, printers, scanners, and facsimile machines. Knowledge of data management and record keeping. Knowledge of budget and travel functions and paperwork. Ability to orchestrate change. Demonstrates strong work ethic.
