Web Developer This position reports to the Director of Marketing and College Relations Appointment Period: Twelve-month annually renewable position. Responsibilities: The Web Developer reports to the Director of Marketing and College Relations and works with other College leadership to ensure the stability of Rhodes State College’s institutional web applications while also developing new functionality supporting the College’s web initiatives. The successful candidate needs the creativity of a web designer with the skill sets of a web developer. The individual is responsible for the design, development, maintenance and troubleshooting of web-based applications and services. An important aspect of this position is leveraging web best practices and having a passion for developing high quality innovative and scalable solutions to challenging problems. The successful candidate should have high customer service skills and should be adept at creating front-end and back-end system solutions. Some weekend and/or evening hours may be required. Higher Ed experience is a plus. Responsibilities include: Specific Duties: Builds and develops database driven web applications and web services to meet constituents’ need. Designs, develops, and maintains Rhodes State College’s Employee Portal which currently utilizes Microsoft SharePoint. Designs, develops and maintains Rhodes State College’s website, which currently utilizes SiteCore content management system. Manages SEO capabilities (external or internal) to ensure that our sites are optimized for search engines. Works to ensure the web site is aligned with the College image and branding. Optimizes processes in order to reduce ongoing IT support costs. Serves as the point person for all web updates on www.RhodesState.edu Monitors technology trends and guides the College through the integration of new technologies, include mobile applications. Monitors, collects, and reports web analytics for improving site usability Develops and maintains a process for systematic review of web information. Works with the systems administrator team to ensure proper internet and intranet connectivity and security. Other duties as assigned. Major Work Qualifications: Associate’s degree in computer related field required (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and a minimum of five years experience in web development and database design. Requires experience with ASP.NET (C#), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL Server/T-SQL; Development experience in SharePoint, InfoPath, and SiteCore CMS is highly desired. Experience using XSLT, Oracle PL/SQL and Photoshop are a plus. Experience in mobile application development is a plus. Must have demonstrated success implementing new technologies and features in a cost-effective manner while achieving high reliability. Must be a highly motivated, innovative, self-directed individual with passion for monitoring current trends. Must be able to keep commitments, be responsive to customer needs and organize projects. Must have demonstrated experience in team leadership, eliciting feedback from others and generating creative solutions. Understanding system architecture with an eye to scalability and efficiency preferred. Experience with formal software delivery and quality methodologies is required. Requires excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be committed to the two-year college mission, a self-motivator and require minimal supervision.
