Placement Range $11.18 per hour Position Type Temporary Part-time Job Category Non-Exempt General Description An employee in this position provides safety security services at all campus properties and facilities of OCCC. The employee must apply current standards and practices of safety and security services within the framework of the established OCCC policies and procedures. The employee provides these services utilizing vehicle and foot patrol as well as fixed post assignment. Employee provides campus information students and visitors and performs other duties as directed by the Chief of Police. An employee in this position has the risk for occupational exposure to human blood and other potentially infectious substances. This position is a Safety Sensitive position and subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing. Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement) Patrol and control access to OCCC facilities, grounds, and parking areas as a deterrent to criminal acts, violations of OCCC policies or regulations, traffic collisions and to identify and remediate safety hazards. Assist Campus Police Officers manage emergency situations and incidents on the OCCC campus using good judgment, courtesy and firmness in dealing with the public. As directed or required, assist Campus Police Officers in the investigation of accidents or violations of state law and/or College policies. Enforce OCCC parking and traffic rules and regulations Perform work related to the administration of lost and found property. Prepare complex incident reports as required. Inspect and maintain fire fighting and safety equipment. Control access to OCCC facilities and properties, ensuring doors are secured or accessible based on business schedule. Perform work related to the access and key control program. Perform Basic Life Support until arrival of Emergency Medical Services. Provide motorist assistance to OCCC students, employees and vistors. Provide information on the location of offices and College personnel. Attend required training classes as designated. Provide information and support to the Chief of Police on significant matters affecting the successful achievement of the Campus Police Department goals and objectives. Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures) Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures Contribute to a safe educational & working environment. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others. Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices. Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur. Minimum Education/Experience High school diploma or GED and Possess current CLEET cerified Armed Secuirty Guard License. Clean Background with no criminal history. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work flexible hours Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment with courtesy and firmness Ability to become certified in American Red Cross Basic Life Support. Possess valid Oklahoma driver’s license prior to start of employment Physical Demands/Working Conditions Required to be successfully fit tested with a respirator. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time indoors or out including inclement weather. Ability to perform strenuous work and lift weights up to seventy-five (75) pounds and perform strenuous tasks requiring lifting, pushing (including pushing stalled vehicles from parking spaces), pulling, bending, stooping and climbing. Ability to meet the physical standards required performing the essential functions of the position as evidenced by the successful completion of a medical physical. Preferred Qualifications Previous related work experience at an Institution of Higher Education. Successful completion of some college coursework Knowledge of computer operations.
