Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator (Scientific Review Board) in the Office of Human Research Services (OHRS) at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Program Coordinator, Scientific Review Board (SRB) position is to provide administrative and operational coordination for the Scientific Review Board (SRB). The Program Coordinator, Scientific Review Board ensures compliance with all external regulations, best practices and policies directly related to the SRB. Through close collaboration with the committee’s physician leadership and members, the Program Coordinator, Scientific Review Board provides efficient and effective operating framework for SRB.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Coordinates day-to-day operations of the SRB, proactively identifying and implementing solutions to improve
    efficiency, effectiveness, and timeliness of office procedures.
  • Assists in managing protocol review activity for new protocols, renewals, and amendments, including communications regarding the review with the committee and the investigators.
  • Assists in the design of accurate and efficient systems for managing SRB submissions.
  • New research proposals are prepared and submitted according to institutional policy.
  • Consent forms, amendments, continuing review applications; FDA, IND applications, SAE analysis and reports are prepared and processed according to regulations.
  • Assigns applications to reviewers for critique preparation and assignment of priority scores.
  • Manages the calendar and agenda for regular committee meetings, ensuring complete and accurate agendas and protocols are distributed to committee members in a timely way prior to meetings.
  • Works with committee members to ensure efficient and effective meeting conduct and records accurate meeting minutes.
  • Reviews new protocols, amendments, and continuations as they relate to scientific merit and institutional priority scoring.
  • Uses established metrics, and participate in the development of new metrics. Use quantitative and qualitative metrics, along with various forms of stakeholder feedback, to identify performance improvement opportunities and implement process improvements.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required; plus three (3) years of administrative experience with supervisory and/or management responsibilities. 
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Adjust hours of work to meet job demands. 
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 
  • Maintains working knowledge of DHHS, FDA, OHRP, NIH, GCP, HIPPA, IRB and other applicable guidelines. Reviews all applicable guidelines and incorporates information into daily work place.
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of individuals including faculty, administrators, government officials, colleagues and support staff.
  • Must be able to work independently and handle difficult situations effectively and collegially. 
  • Must maintain confidentiality and committee matters.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of regulatory experience.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, IRB and Oncore.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS; Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
