  1. Knowledge of applicable codes/ordinances.
  2. Knowledge of methods, tools and hazards of the trade.
  3. Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction and make necessary repairs.
  4. Knowledge and ability to use computers, tablets, smart phones, and software systems to perform work duties.
  5. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
  6. Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
  7. Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written, to effectively communicate with customers, team members, contractors and supervisors

Duty/Responsibility

  1. Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematic diagrams, and wire circuit drawings.
  2. Ability to compute voltage amperage and resistance factors using simple algebraic formulas.
  3. Ability to inspect the equipment, determine malfunction and assist in making necessary repairs.
  4. Assist in analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctions of electrical systems.
  5. Maintain electronic records and service reports of materials and time expended, including the use of tablets and Integrated Work Management Software.
  6. Follow codes and recognized procedures, techniques, and safety precautions in the performance of duties.
  7. Participate in institutional professional development and training.
  8. Communicate with and provide excellent service to campus customers.
  9. Attend departmental training, such as safety and equipment training.
  10. May participate in the on-call rotation, and respond to emergency situations, including during off hours, as needed.
  11. Perform related duties as assigned including campus snow removal efforts

Duty/Responsibility

Service Calls and Customer Service
Assist electricians when responding to service calls and requests related to the operation, repair, maintenance, installation and removal of electrical related equipment. Troubleshoot minor and complex electrical issues. Ensure work is of the highest quality while meeting all electrical codes and safety requirements. Utilize electronic sources of trouble shooting and problem identification software. Using the work management software, maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time expended. Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations, including during off hours, as needed.

Duty/Responsibility

Preventative Maintenance and Project Work
Perform preventive maintenance activities on University electrical equipment, including inspection and hands on preventive maintenance needs. Update and maintain records in the work management software and provide equipment condition assessments. Complete other electrical assignments as designated.

Follow all electrical codes and recognized policies/procedures, techniques and safety precautions in the performance of your electrical duties. Keep current on all required safety trainings, code license updates, and any certifications required. Continuously seek out professional development opportunities that will benefit the University and your technical skills to stay current and knowledgeable of best practices and future trends and technologies.
