Job Summary Teach entry level Biology classes (Biology 103 Environmental Biology, Biology 104 Human Biology, and Biology 105 Biology for Health Sciences). Applicants must have M.S or PhD. in Biology or related field. Applicants must be willing to teach in the evening. Adjunct faculty hold, as defined by their letter of appointment, without eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be renewed. Adjunct appointments do not guarantee course assignments. Specific responsibilities of adjunct faculty are given in their letter of appointment. The specific starting and expiration dates for appointments are noted in their letter of appointment. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduates in the area of the candidate's specialization. Selected candidate may be required to teach in RU's Core Curriculum as needed. Adjunct faculty shall be evaluated in every course, including summer session.
Required Qualifications: All faculty must have at least a masters degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience desirable;

Experience assessing classes;
Classroom management skills.

Education/experience: Adjunct faculty must hold an advanced degree or equivalent credentials based on experience consistent with accreditation criteria of the discipline and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
All faculty must have at least a masters degree in the field in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree. A memo from the Dean placed in the faculty member's personnel file is required to justify an exception to the accreditation standards of SACS and must include certification of the knowledge and skills.
