After years of talking about it, planning for it and working out the kinks, the Western Piedmont Community College Emergency Services Training Center is officially open.
Leaders from the county, Western Piedmont Community College, firefighters and instructors dedicated the center on Tuesday.
During the dedication ceremony, Jim Burnett, president of WPCC, told the crowd about the continuous training that firefighters need to protect the public. But, he said, the college wasn’t able in the past to provide all the training firefighters in the county needed. The training facility will help fill that need.
