Consultant- NYS Massage Therapy Continuing Education Curriculum & Program Development
This position is temporary and it is to develop a continuing Education program and curriculum based upon the New York State Department of Education's recent mandatory regulations regarding massage therapy. The new regulations are required by State Statute (Chapter 463 of the Laws 2010 enacted section 7807). In addition, responding to emails and other duties as they are needed. The position will require the responsibilities and knowledge listed below. Multi-tasking, independent thinking skills are a must. Background knowledge of medical industry and terminology is necessary.
Understanding of the new massage therapy regulations & all continuing education requirements
Creation of a three year schedule of implementation
Completion of all materials required for submission to NYS for approval of program
Identify qualified instructors
Development of assessment tools based upon NYS regulations
Development of proposed classes that match the new regulations: Theory, Technique, Swedish Massage, Medical Massage, Shiatsu, connective Tissue Massage, Tui Na, Reflexology, Acupressure, Polarity, Myofacial Massage, Neuromuscular Massage, Craniosacral Techniques, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Infant Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Stretching, Exercise to Facilitate, Enhance of Perpetuate the benefits of massage therapy, Thai Massage, Sports Massage and Physical Massage related to medical issues
Daily checking of email from Director and all Trocaire Staff as well as external inquiries
Completion of all requested reports
Response to phone and email messages.
Knowledge of:
The practice of the profession
Pathology
Myology
Neurology
Anatomy AND Physiology
Practices related to medication regimes
Qualifications
Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred
An entrepreneurial business spirit
Ability to multi-task
Current CPR/First Aid License
Initiative, Independent thinking
All required vaccines to work in a medical setting are current and up to date
Reliable vehicle & current valid Driver's license. |
