Celebrate Green Central highlights sustainability

The culinary delight was a taste of the Celebrate Green Central Trade Show and Home Tour at the college Oct. 16-17. The event showcased the college's green, earth-friendly programs in renewable energy, green building, biofuels and agriculture. It also featured area vendors who supply green, environmentally friendly products and services, from home energy efficiency audits to construction and photovoltaic, solar thermal and geothermal energy systems.
CCCC Jonesboro Center honors teachers

September is Teacher Appreciation Month and students at the Jonesboro Center of Central Carolina Community College hosted a 'Faculty Appreciation Day' Sept. 24. The event included poetry, art, and comments by the students to show the instructors that they make a difference for the betterment of the individual, community, country, and humankind.
CCCC selected to offer BPI certification

PITTSBORO - Central Carolina Community College has been selected as the site for the North Carolina Community College System's Weatherization Faculty Training program.

At its Aug. 21 meeting, the State Board of Community Colleges approved an allocation to Central Carolina of $34,000 from Workforce Investment Act funds designated for enhancing the education and credentialing of community college faculty.
Central Carolina nursing grads score high on national exam

The 2009 Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) graduates of Central Carolina Community College earned a pass rate of 93 percent on the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) the first time they sat the test. All are now registered nurses.

 
 
 
 

LILLINGTON - Central Carolina Community College and Triton High School hosted a laser workshop Sept. 26 for 38 students and four education coordinators from the Science House at North Carolina State University. The workshop took place in the laser laboratory at the college's Harnett County Campus, in Lillington.

 
CCCC VMT-designed shirts a hit at European Conference
 

SANFORD - Several veterinary technicians in southern Europe are now sporting gift T-shirts from students in Central Carolina Community College's Veterinary Medical Technology program.

Each year, the VMT students design and sell T-shirts with pictures of dogs and cats and "CCCC" on them. Dr. Nancy Loes, veterinarian for Nutramax Laboratories, is a frequent guest speaker at the college's VMT program. She saw the T-shirts, liked them, and wanted some to take to a conference.
