POSITION: Communication Studies Instructor
SALARY: Salary Schedule E (currently $1,168.26 - $1,426.82 commensurate with education)
Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester basis and are paid per lecture hour equivalent (LHE).

Required Minimum Qualifications:
(Applicant must meet one of the following)
Most current Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California Community Colleges (9th edition):
Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communications, communication
studies, speech communication, or organizational communication OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND
Master’s in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English. (Academic Affairs Division, California Community Colleges 2012)
Antelope Valley College Equivalency: (Approved: May 2, 2013 Academic Senate Meeting)
Any combination of bachelor's degree in the following: film, drama/theatre arts, linguistics, rhetoric, mass
communication, communications, journalism, broadcasting, television, film, media studies, English, literature,
composition, marketing, public relations, business, telecommunication(s), AND a master's degree in one of
the listed fields to include 24 semester units of Communication Studies courses with 18 of those units at the
upper division level.
A California Community College Credential in the discipline, valid for life, may be considered for purposes of
minimum qualifications. AND a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).
Instruct students in the assigned discipline
Assignment may include teaching courses during the day, evening, and/or off-campus sites

3. Two current signed and dated letters of recommendation from individuals having knowledge of your professional experience.
4. Transcripts* of ALL college work that supports and substantiates the requirements of the positions. Transcripts must include verification of degrees conferred. (Unofficial transcripts or photocopies will be accepted to establish the application file). Official transcripts will be required if the candidate is offered the position.
*Note: Any degree from a country other than the U.S., including Great Britain and Canada,
must be evaluated by a professional evaluation service.
