With a robust 54-year heritage, VHCC serves students in the service region through a Workforce Development Division, a Professional and Technical Studies Division, an Arts and Sciences Division, and a Nursing Division. VHCC awards credentials and continuing education courses as well as Associate of Applied Science degrees, Associate of Arts and Sciences degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of IT professionals responsible for providing IT support services to students, faculty, and staff. This candidates primary responsibility will be the day-to-day operations of the colleges public-facing IT Helpdesk.

Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide IT Helpdesk oversight and coverage
  • Provide computer lab supervision
  • Provide timely, professional, courteous, and thorough customer service and IT support to all students and employees
  • Administer the laptop loaner program
  • Serve as Microsoft SharePoint webmaster for the colleges intranet
  • Troubleshoot IT issues with student access, multi-factor authentication, and the adoption of publisher resources
  • Troubleshoot classroom technology issues for faculty
  • Serve as a backup on the colleges phone system
  • Provisioning software licensing and network accounts as required by the colleges onboarding/offboarding process
 
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
    • Associates degree with coursework in IT, computer science, programming, and helpdesk

 

 
  • Two or more years of IT Helpdesk Experience
 
  • Knowledge of basic IT fundamentals, networking, and computer maintenance
 
  • Knowledge and experience using helpdesk ticketing applications
 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing in response to help desk tickets
 
  • Strong attention to detail
 
  • Ability to handle multiple work assignments and prioritize their completion
 
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in team environments to meet institutional and departmental goals
 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office applications
 
Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in a Higher Education setting

 

 
  • Experience using Zoom and/or other video conferencing software for troubleshooting IT issues
 
  • Experience using Canvas and/or other Learning Management Systems
 
Operation of a State Vehicle Yes
