SUMMARY

Responsible for preparing reagents in appropriate quantities and concentrations as specified in a multidiscipline science labs for the college.  This position will also deliver each science experiment to the Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics and Geology classes at designated campuses. Ensuring faculty and students are able to perform experiments/assignments properly and safely.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Prepare reagents and solutions for experiments;

  2. Label and package solutions for delivery;

  3. Deliver experiments and requested supplies;

  4. Receive and stock supplies and chemicals;

  5. Maintain inventories of supplies, equipment, and lab materials in the labs; 

  6. Properly dispose of outdated materials;

  7. Prepare chemical waste and disposal forms;

  8. Recycle chemicals returned from labs;

  9. Monitor stocked chemicals for proper storage;

  10. Organize and maintain all labs;

  11. Assist supervisor with orientations;

  12. Develops lab schedules and trains new personnel as needed;

  13. Assist instructors in the lab;

  14. Keep lab free of food and drink; and

  15. Security sensitive.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

 

EDUCATION

Associate’s degree in Science required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

One+ years in a science laboratory setting preparing reagents and solutions for experiments experience required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of Chemistry and/or knowledge of Physics laboratory equipment;

  2. Comprehensive knowledge of chemical safety and storage;

  3. Able to travel between campuses;

  4. Comprehensive knowledge of bio-hazardous chemical disposal;

  5. Computer skills required;

  6. Good communication skills; and

  7. Effective time management skills.
