Urban College of Boston (UCB) is hiring an energetic, detail-oriented, and dependable full-time (37.5 hours per week) Manager of Online Programs & Faculty Development to provide administrative oversight and day-to-day leadership to UCBs online and faculty development programs. The Manager will play a key role in the development and expansion of new academic programs at UCB by leading online course development and faculty training to ensure that all UCB courses in the LMS meet college expectations and are designed with equity and student success at the forefront.

This role is a hybrid role, but requires a weekly on-campus presence at UCB (2 Boylston St, Boston, MA) and may require occasional travel to partner sites as needed. Per current college policy, all UCB employees must be up to date on all CDC-recommended COVID vaccinations.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide direction, leadership, and support to UCBs online learning and faculty development initiatives
  • Partner with faculty to develop and revise online courses that are student-centered, achieve learning outcomes, and meet standards for universal design and accessibility
  • Develop and deliver a robust professional development training series, including one-to-one consultations, that support faculty to integrate empowering and equitable approaches into their course design and teaching activities
  • Assist in identifying emerging technologies that can improve the level of engagement and authentic interaction in courses, and collaborate with other staff members to integrate new technologies into our systems and our teaching when appropriate
  • Partner with Manager of Institutional Research and Assessment to guide a course review and development process that advances the goals of the College
  • Work with Student Services to develop clear, straightforward orientations and other information for prospective online students
  • Develop, implement, and assess a strategic online course development plan to ensure that all UCB courses are active in the Colleges LMS, and which supports the expansion of online and hybrid-online programs to promote access and credential completion.
  • Prepare reports and other documentation to ensure ongoing compliance and accreditation
  • Utilize LMS analytics and other relevant data for decision-making and planning
  • Develop and maintain strong, cooperative, and effective relationships with faculty, staff members, and students and maintain positive working relationships with external community agencies, organizations, and service area school districts to promote outreach and develop programs and partnerships to generate increased student enrollment
  • Participate in accreditation review, strategic planning, new program development, and proposal writing processes by utilizing knowledge of state and federal regulations specific to distance education including Title 5 and Accessibility requirements
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to working at a college that serves multilingual and multicultural adult students in both online and face-to-face environments
  • Utilize knowledge of state and federal regulations specific to distance education including NC-SARA, copyright, rules governing regular and substantive interaction, and accessibility requirements to engage in college work
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum & Instruction, Education, Instructional Technology or a related field or with significant experience and a masters degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading online course development in a higher education environment
  • Success in the development and implementation of professional development opportunities for college or university teaching faculty
  • Minimum of 5 years of college teaching experience (preferably at the community college level)
  • Experience with LMS platforms – preferably teaching and course development in D2L
  • Knowledge of current educational technologies and instructional design techniques used in distance education
  • Ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively about the teaching and learning process
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Evidence of a commitment to working in an academic environment supporting students with diverse social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Mission-driven and committed to working at a College that serves multilingual and multicultural nontraditional students
  • This role is partially remote for the foreseeable future but requires an on campus presence multiple days each week
  • Competent with Microsoft products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint for use in a teaching environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
