Salary/Compensation Statement:
Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $45,678 – $66,988
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years relevant experience.

  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness ProgramThrough the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Required Education:
A Bachelors with coursework in education, curriculum, human development, human resources,
business or liberal arts is required currently.

Required Experience:
One (1) year of related student records and transcript evaluation experience, which included considerable public contact.

Position Purpose:
Responsible for the evaluation, interpretation and articulation of transcripts and degrees within the guidelines and policies established by the college, accrediting agencies and the Department of Education.

Essential Functions:
Essential Functions
 
  • Ensure degree audit and transfer credit assessments are performed in compliance with college and state requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with students and staff in the interpreting and assessing of degree audit results; ensuring results are accurate and auditable and exceptions are accurate.
  • Work in partnership with co-workers and outside institutions on best transcript evaluation practices, making the process clear for students.
  • Communicate directly with program leads to confirm student entry into programs, facilitate efficient transcript evaluation, graduation processes, authorization of exceptions to CORE requirements and respond to technical or complex functional problems related to these processes.
  • Build Lanes degree and certificate curriculum into the students web-based worksheet tool, myGradPlan.
  • Understand and utilize available technology as communication and data gathering tools and to accomplish essential job functions.
  • Ensure and maintain confidentiality as guided by the Family Education Rights and college policies.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


Transcript Evaluation
 
  • Obtain course descriptions, catalogs, and institutional information via web research, online transfer databases, and contacting other colleges and universities for the purpose of making an accurate course match.
  • Research course content and applicability to academic program for the incoming student; grant college credit to incoming students.
  • Interpret and analyze course descriptions from Lane and other institutions.
  • Make and take responsibility for decisions based on research completed.
  • Discern if transfer courses are equivalent to Lane courses, and if not, how Lane will use the course towards their degrees and certificates, in alignment with guidelines.
  • Identify ‘special attributes and apply theses to transfer courses.
  • Research the structure of an institution and their courses, degrees and certificates, including courses based on criteria and attributes.
  • Maintain communication and collaboration with appropriate college committees and staff concerning transcript evaluation.
  • Update and maintain articulation tables in database.
  • Verify transfer institutions accreditation meets requirements for transfer credit.
  • Keep current with Military and ACE credit recommendations updates.
  • Analyze an International transcript translated by NACES.
  • Perform transcript evaluation for CLEP, Advanced Placement, and Credit for Prior Learning.
  • Consult with counselors, academic advisors, and program coordinators to resolve problems and obtain information; refer to and use appropriate resources.
  • Act as a liaison with other colleges, accrediting agencies, and the Department of Education.
  • Track and assess transcripts to evaluate the progress of students toward mandated requirements in cohort programs and prepare summary results for academic planning.

Degree Auditor
 
  • Advise students regarding their status and unmet degree and/or certificate requirements; assist students with academic planning based on remaining requirements.
  • Ensure current knowledge in discussing degree completion options and interpret core requirements for each program of study.
  • Have strong knowledge of how all degrees are constructed including the different components of Foundational Skills, Discipline Studies, Core, Electives, Cultural Literacy, Human Relations and Cooperative Education.
  • Communicate and consult with faculty and staff regarding students completion status towards specific degrees and/or certificates.
  • Interpret and analyze program requirements and discern applicability and compliance with state and institution guidelines.
  • Document degree adjustments and process changes accordingly.
  • Auto-award additional degrees and/or certificates when appropriate.
  • Process reverse transfer applicants and notify applicants of results.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with faculty and staff to assist students in an accurate manner.
  • Perform quality control checks on computer-generated degree audits.
  • Track updates in catalog and follow complex procedures, guidelines and decisions affecting the degree evaluation process.
  • Interpret and apply curricular policies and guidelines approved by Lane and the state.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Enrollment/Registrar.

Work is performed independently according to established program or degree requirements, College procedures and professional judgment.

The supervisor provides general instructions as to the scope of work and priorities. Employee is responsible for daily operations with the supervisor available to consult on problems and policy decisions. Work is reviewed for the quality of services provided to students and staff.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that includes office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. This position may work with individuals who may be hostile or abusive. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
