This position is a full-time, 37.5-hour per week position. The position is 100% funded by a combination of revenue from state and county funding.
The Extension Support Staff is a member of the staff of North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE). The Extension Support Staff’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the Extension staff where assigned. The Extension Support Staff cooperates with colleagues in the NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities.
The performance of assigned responsibilities is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the NCCE.

North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens. Other Work/Responsibilities
Receives telephone calls and visitors; gives out detailed information regarding program activities; refers caller to appropriate program area or personnel. Responds to inquiries from the public by telephone, e-mail and in person, regarding programs, related program services and upcoming events.
Completes a variety of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Reviews and verifies records and reports to ensure required information is complete and accurate.

Establishes and maintains a variety of tangible files, filing and retrieving information, as requested by the Agent in their absence or as otherwise necessary.
Types materials from typed or handwritten copy using a variety of formats for preparing correspondence, reports, and manuscripts, with responsibility for accuracy of spelling, punctuation, format, and grammar.
Takes and prepares meeting minutes for distribution.
Prepares and disseminates mass mailings through regular mail, e-mail and Active Campaign.
Coordinates the logistics of program or training events including room or facility requirements and set up. Work requires welcoming and registering participants via email or hardcopy, collecting fees and processing accurately. Events may also include workshops, conferences, production meetings, field days, classes, achievement programs and advisory committee meetings.
Coordinates obtaining information for monthly bulletins, holiday flyers and other distribution outlets.
Assists Agents with special and recurring projects, promotional events, and related marketing efforts.
May serve as a program liaison for the Agent or as a representative for the program as requested.
Specialized marketing work is performed in creating newsletters, web pages and social media pages. Sends public service announcements to newspapers regarding upcoming classes. Maintains a program library of marketing collateral. Maintain supply of publications available for the public.

Graduation from high school and two years office assistance and secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge of computer applications is required including Active Campaign, Word Press, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Facebook, and Instagram.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in Spanish both written and oral is a bonus (not required).
- Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- Possess strong work ethic with skills in communications, networking, and public relations.
- Strong computer and technical competencies, including experience and knowledge in mass media, marketing, and presentations.
- Ability to create graphics for marketing, publication, and presentation purposes.

- Ability to plan, organize, and work well with people.
- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.

- Travel connected with official duties may be required. Required to have personal mobility/transportation and obtain/maintain valid driver’s license and appropriate liability insurance. Must have willingness to work necessary hours to fulfill job responsibilities (some evenings and weekends).
- The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently. The job also requires sustained periods of standing and sitting and occasional periods of kneeling, stooping and reaching. The job occasionally requires exposure to extreme heat and humidity and exposure to the sun.
- The person must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. The job requires appropriate visual acuity with or without correction and dexterity to perform the normal duties of the job.
Required License or Certification
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required and must be maintained.
