Summary of position: This position exists to provide leadership and administrative support for teaching and learning through organization of staff, technology, and operational resources. This position supports, develops, and implements instructional technology used in online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. Serves as the technical administrator for the campus Learning Management System (LMS) and other needed systems/software related to instruction.

The position also provides training for faculty and staff with implementing a variety of technologies for online and classroom course delivery, including accessibility and Quality Matters standards and information related to CO Online. Assists students through training and support for technology enhanced courses. Provides research into emerging technologies to improve quality of RRCC and CO Online courses. Provides recommendations to the Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding needed emerging technologies, software, and, upgrades on equipment in learning spaces.

 

Description of Position

 

Provide leadership and supervision for professional, technical, and instructional staff. Evaluate and assign classified and professional technical staff in accordance with respective plans. Make informed staffing recommendations to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Develop departmental leadership teams. Create, monitor and/or participate in committee work that promotes the goals of the division and instruction. Verify and approve employee contracts including part-time contracts and full-time overloads. Develop and administer instructional technology budget in collaboration with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and staff. Justify and effectively manage all appropriate operating budget categories including acquisitions, maintenance and inventory of capital. Lead, administer and oversee grants relevant to instructional technology.

Provides LMS administration by coordinating course creation, enrollment, overall management, and campus-wide technical support. Supports the testing and training of LMS version updates and possible LMS migration, to include testing, implementation, and training. Support College in CO Online processes and technical developments.

Leads efforts to improve course quality in conjunction with College Deans, Directors, and Administrative Staff to meet Colleges online course quality standards, WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines, and pedagogical consulting. Works collaboratively with faculty throughout the College to support the implementation of these best practices for course design and delivery; by providing training for the LMS.

Organizes and delivers LMS student orientations for online, hybrid and face-to-face courses. Provides student support for other instructional technology-based tools, as needed.

Coordinates the 24 x 7 Help Desk ticketing system to expand and coordinate eLearning help desk for students, faculty and staff. Assists faculty, student and staff with technical or other instructional technology related problems. Coordinates with the Colleges Computer Services and Audio Visual to ensure adequate classroom and instructional technology infrastructure to meet goals of technology-enhanced face-to-face, hybrid, and online classrooms.

Maintains awareness of new and emerging instructional technology best practices by conducting research, evaluation, and recommendations. Disseminates information and provides training regarding these new technologies to enhance online and technology enhanced classrooms. Collects and analyzes data collected for improving courses, increasing retention and student enrollment.

Represents the college at national, state and local eLearning meetings, councils, and committees as appropriate. Serve on college related committees.

Coordinates with admissions and records on eLearning student issues. Assist with accreditation approval and improvement recommendations.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Instructional or Educational Technology or a related field with emphasis on teacher education and development, educational technology, or learning and teaching theories from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of leadership, supervisory, budgetary, and administrative experience in higher education at a Director level or higher. Two (2) years of experience managing LMS systems like D2L, Blackboard and/or Canvas. At least two (2) semesters of experience teaching online.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree in an academic field related to Instructional Technology. Quality Matters Certifications (or similar online quality assurance framework), Accessibility, Equity & Inclusion. Two (2) years teaching online with experience in the community college setting. Experience with Quality Matters or similar online quality assurance framework, DEI in online/remote courses, EvaluationKIT, Respondus, YuJa, Softchalk. Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the College. Coursework in technology, multi-media, instructional design and/or related field. Demonstrated knowledge of the rules, regulations and principles of WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical and technological issues including evaluation methods related to online initiatives in the classroom and other alternative delivery methods. Knowledge of LMS course management tools. Ability to execute several key projects simultaneously. Verbal and written communication skills including the ability to give and receive information accurately and present information to groups and in public settings. Strong computer skills, including web authoring, multimedia software and Microsoft Office products. A strong commitment to the mission of the community college. Ability to interact and communicate effectively in all settings (in-person, remotely, written, and verbal correspondences) with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work from campus.

Starting Salary: Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
