Department/Division Purpose (brief description of main function):

The division of Health & Public Safety purpose is to provide quality healthcare and public safety education that prepares the learner to meet the needs of diverse populations in an ever-changing environment.
The Office of the Academic Dean exists to provide academic leadership across the division, including teaching sites and campuses. Ensures academic quality, consistency, and student success.

This position specifically exist to provide assistance to the Division Dean and Department Chairs in meeting the needs of each academic department and/or program across all campuses and all teaching sites of the college. The Division Academic Excellence Administrator provides support in the coordination of the divisions academic departmental operations, curriculum, syllabi, instructional materials, part-time instructor orientations, marketing and promotion and assessment of student learning. This position serves to facilitate communication between instructors and faculty across all campuses and teaching locations. This position is a 1.0 APT and reports to the Academic Dean.

Absences will be minimal and only for appropriate cause; notification of supervisor is required. Employees are expected to model professionalism in dress, action, and communication.

This position has been identified by Pueblo Community College as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Department of Education guidelines. As a Campus Security Authority, the incumbent in this position is required to report crimes that they become aware of to the Department of Public Safety at Pueblo Community College and must attend annual training related to these responsibilities.

Job Duties

Essential Functions:
Operational Procedures: Support Department chairs in the completion of various department operational procedures to include but not limited to the following: purchasing, course schedules, advise students, faculty workload forms, curriculum maps and syllabi updates.
Hiring & Orientation: Assist Department Chairs in the hiring process of new faculty and instructors, including ensuring that all faculty and instructors have the required credentials in accordance with CCCS policies and procedures. Assist Department Chairs with orientation of new faculty and instructors, to include arrangement of mentoring, and guidance in professional development/training as needed for new faculty and instructors to meet the educational needs of our students. Provide orientation and training to new faculty and instructors as needed. Supervise work study, who assists AEA, Deans administrative assistant and department chairs with a variety of projects.
Instructional Support: Serve as a liaison between Department Chairs, Academic Dean and academic advising on all campuses/sites to ensure updates and changes have been communicated and current information is being delivered. Provide academic advising to students, interested in Health and Public Safety programs. Facilitate communication and training with part-time instructors at all campuses/sites. (Ensure branch campus/site instructors have access to up-to-date syllabi, text books, instructional supplements, and other department specific resources). Perform branch/site classroom observations, write-ups, and feedback sessions, as needed. Serve as a liaison between the divisions Assessment Lead and the department chairs to assist with the divisions Assessment of Student Learning Plans and Division Assessment results report; work directly with part-time instructors on the Pueblo Campus in gathering data and compiling results, and the Academic Directors on branch/sites in gathering data from part-time instructors and compiling results. Assist programs with developing and submitting curriculum changes and program reviews. Assist in gathering employment and wage data (LMI and/or Onet). Review and edit program applications, process applications, participate with student interview for programs.
Program Support: Assist Department Chairs and Academic Dean with marketing and recruitment for all departments and programs within the division, to include general informational meetings/open houses regarding the educational opportunities within the division on a regular basis. Attend College and Division meetings, program advisory board meetings, assist in minute taking and/or provide other meeting operational support, participate in committees, and other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Academic Dean.

Non-Essential Functions:
Represent the Division by communicating with the public during PCC sponsored activities. Attend graduation of students.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Licenses or Certificates:

Experience:
3 years' experience in an institution of higher education

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Verifiable experience in a position that required effective communication with faculty and staff.
Demonstrated success in a position that required the ability to work independently, set priorities, and possess strong organizational skills
Demonstrated skill working with a diverse population
Ability to communicate clearly to multiple diverse groups to include administration, stakeholders, employees, and students.

Experience:
5 years' experience in an institution of higher education, including classroom instruction.

Verifiable experience in a position that required effective communication with a diversity of faculty, staff, and students across multiple locations
Ability to manage projects and set specific goals and objectives.
Demonstrated success increasing diversity of students/employees and implementing diversity initiatives.
