Job Description

Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly-ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the Tri-Cities region—and its rural setting featuring 750+ acres of wetlands, bucolic forest, and the states oldest and largest pecan grove.

Richard Bland College of William & Mary is seeking to hire an Accounts Payable Manager. The Accounts Payable Manager will provide support to the Office of Finance and will report to the Controller. The Accounts Payable Manager supports RBCs Strategic Plan and an exceptional student experience by managing the accounts payable function to include reconciliations, and data entry/management for state and institutional financial systems in accordance with established business goals. This position will supervise two employees.

Job responsibilities include:

 

  • Ensure compliance with the 95% Prompt Payment Management Standard;
  • Ensure disbursements are processed in accordance with State and College policies and procedures;
  • Manage Department of Accounts policy exception requests and questions;
  • Provide information and training to the College faculty and staff related to Virginia and College policies;
  • Ensure vouchers are processed in Cardinal to pay by required due date;
  • Ensure vouchers are entered into Banner in timely manner;
  • Ensure payments are supported by matching Invoice, Purchase Order, and Receiving Report;
  • Disbursements will be reconciled between Banner and Cardinal daily and errors will be resolved within 10 business days, ensuring corrections are made prior to month end;
  • Ensure timely posting of SPCC transactions;
  • Review documentation for compliance and accuracy;
  • Print checks within 5 days of proper documentation being received in Finance;
  • Verify that parent refund checks match the amount and person in the Banner record.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Considerable amount of years in Accounts Payable;
  • Considerable amount of supervisory experience;
  • Knowledge of the Prompt Pay Act;
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and the general public utilizing a high level of interpersonal skills, and customer service principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting and/or equivalence training and experience;
  • Experience in a higher education setting;
  • Experience with Banner Finance or PeopleSoft Products;
  • Experience with the Commonwealths accounting system, Cardinal.
