POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Early College Programs at Hagerstown Community College (HCC) provides leadership for all Early College Programs. The director works closely with counselors at partner high schools to create college pathways for high school students attending HCC both full and part-time. The Director ensures that the Early College Programs are administered in accordance with guidelines established by the College, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Builds relationships with high schools across HCCs service area by assessing the needs of high school students and school districts;

    • Coordinates with academic programs to provide courses in response to student needs, implements marketing and promotion strategies to ensure participation, provides admission and registration support services, and provides administrative support for students and faculty;

    • Manages the development, growth, promotion, and assessment of Early College Programs, including preparation of guidelines for instructors, schools, and students;

    • Leads presentations at schools on dual credit opportunities, and recommends policy and procedural implementations changes;
    • Creates and helps manage systems of support, for early college students to ensure their success at HCC;
    • Provides orientation activities for students and instructors, and serves as a mentor and resource/point of contact for students, parents, and high school counselors;
    • Engages with local and regional educational leaders to identify and help with student critical needs, and builds and leads teams to advance strategic initiatives;
    • Works cooperatively with the Registrar and Admissions team to ensure that special registration assistance is provided for dual credit students, including visits to area high schools;
    • Stays professionally active and engaged with the latest research or trends in the area of dual enrollment;
    • Responsible, with the Dean of Students, for developing support services, enrollment services, and advising services for dual-enrolled students;
    • Works closely with Academic Affairs, Division Directors, and area high school leadership to oversee the scheduling of course offerings for the Early College Program;
    • Works closely with Academic Affairs, Division Directors, and area high school leadership to oversee the hiring of credentialed faculty for the Early College Program;
    • Works closely with Academic Affairs, Division Directors, and area high school leadership to provide training for high school teachers in HCCs Early College Program;
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Master's degree in Education or Counseling (or related field) from an accredited institution. Minimum of two years experience working with dual-credit students. Demonstrated supervisory skills and experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, experience with budget development and monitoring, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
