New Mexico State University Alamogordo is seeking an Assistant Professor to Professor of Psychology/Counseling
and Educational Psychology, full-time, 9-month, tenure track. Provide 30-credit hours per academic year (15-cr per
fall and spring semesters) of classroom instruction in psychology, human growth and development, and education
psychology. Teaching assignments may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, online, hybrid and off-campus.
Develop, revise, and update curriculum in collaboration with department, college, and university faculty according
to established curriculum procedures. May develop and teach online courses. Instruct, support, advise and provide
timely feedback to student in accordance with NMSU-A policy and procedures. Will participate and serve on
division and college committees, program advisory councils, task forces and working groups. Must maintain
professional and academic competence, appropriate licensure and participate in professional development activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling and Educational Psychology or a related field.
• Graduate coursework and/or teaching experience to include content related to basic psychology, human growth
and development and educational psychology.
• Doctorate in Psychology, Counseling and Educational Psychology or a related field.
• Knowledge of innovative, creative teaching and learning methodologies.
• Experience with online course development and delivery.
• Experience with course and program assessment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
• College teaching experience.
Successful candidates must have a philosophy which supports the goal of success for all students through hands-on
learning experiences and strong faculty involvement. Finalists will be asked to document teaching effectiveness
with relevant material and to present a teaching demonstration.
