About SUNY Broome Community College:

SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York.  The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs.  An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's workforce and non-credit programs.

 


Job Description:

SUNY Broome is seeking a full-time, on-site Assistant Director of Administrative Information Systems.  This position will report to the Director of Information Technology Services (ITS).  The Assistant Director provides technical support for installation, setup, and maintenance of the campus Human Resources, Finance, and Student and Financial Aid administrative computing systems and all associated system vendor and third-party applications and services.  Directly supervises Programmer Analyst staff in coordination with the Director of ITS.  Generous benefits includes, but is not limited to liberal vacation and sick leave, Medical, Dental, and optional Vision and Flexible Benefit Plan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with management, enhancement, and support for the campus management information and third-party integrated systems.
  • Troubleshoots system, database, and software problems with recommendations for solution to the attention of the Director of ITS.
  • Assists with the planning and development of administrative technology services, information security, and other system needs of the campus.
  • Researches and evaluates options and recommends improvements to campus systems.
  • Provides and assists with planning, programming, and support for management information system and third-party integrated systems to meet user needs.
  • Assists with the creation and maintenance of management information system related user security models.  Assists with and/or performs all routine system-maintenance, security, and backup procedures in accordance with accepted computer system management practices.
  • Coordinates, manages, and implements institutional outputs required by governing agencies, membership organizations, and accrediting and certifying groups including the State University of New York (SUNY) and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education accrediting processes.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, tracking, and implementation of project plans to complete ITS implementation projects within required timeframe, budget, and established parameters for quality.  Analyzes training and documentation.
  • Coordinates with managers of departments impacted by new projects to implement project plans and associated training.
  • Coordinates, monitors, schedules, and leads implementation project team meetings, creates training plans, and leads other implementation tasks for staff and other identified groups, monitoring and reporting results to assure completion of project objectives.
  • Manages difficult or complex infrastructure implementation and project management tasks such as drawing up plans and monitoring progress of work in conjunction with the Director of ITS and other campus departments.
  • Creates and uses appropriate project management tools, project management software, spreadsheets, or other tools to manage people and tasks and keep projects on target.  Provides periodic updates to implementation team, consultants, users, and college administrators on implementation milestones.
  • Interacts with SUNY support centers such as ITEC and SICAS for management information systems, third-party systems, virtual machine, operating systems, and database administration support.
  • Recommends technical specifications and purchasing documents for the purchase and acquisition of networking/telecommunications hardware and software after evaluating recommending the suitability for specific purposes.
  • Provides direct supervision, guidance, and recommendations to programming and other support staff for campus-wide technologies and campus technological services.
  • Actively participates in professional development programs, conferences, workshops, and seminars to remain current on topics related to area of responsibility.  Provides advice and consultation about this technology to members of the campus community.

 


Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience is required.

Additional coursework in programming, database systems, project management, or other related areas is desired.

Experience with Ellucian Banner or other ERP systems is desired.

Experience with Oracle is desired.

Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the computing and programming environments is required.

 


Additional Information:

The minimum salary rate for this position is $66,250.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
