Montgomery College, Collegewide, has an immediate need for a full-time Employer Services Specialist in Student Services. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, occasional flexible hours may be required. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 27 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. This position is eligible for telework up to one (1) day per week after successful completion of initial employment probationary period.

The Employer Services Specialist is responsible for establishing employer relationships to facilitate job opportunities for Montgomery College students and alumni.  Coordinates and collaborates with academic departments and multiple Student Affairs divisions to connect employers and students. Performs outreach activities to employers, assessing employer needs and connecting them to appropriate solutions at the College. Develops and maintains relationships with employers, faculty, staff, professional associations, community agencies and organizations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans with goal of increasing employment opportunities for

Montgomery College students and alumni.

  • Conduct outreach to various department faculty and staff to promote area opportunities directly from employers or as posted through College Central Network (CCN).  
  • Provide a periodic weekly job opportunity and events email to all faculty and staff, targeted to emphasize on-campus-recruitment activities at each campus each week as well as employers seeking to fill large numbers of openings
  • Develop strong relationship with faculty members, program coordinators, and department chairs to engage them in planning major-specific in-person and virtual "niche" job fairs and other events throughout the year.
  • Build relationships with "destination employers" from government agencies, to large corporations, to startup businesses that will provide growth and learning opportunities for students as well as employment
  • Use software to create and disseminate marketing materials for employers, students, faculty/staff and community members including writing articles for collegewide newsletter and updating web information.  

Acts as initial point-person at College for employers wanting to recruit Montgomery College students. Identifies needs of prospective employer and facilitates appropriate steps and follow-up to ensure that the employers' staffing needs are met.

  • Develop and share documents that explain recruitment strategies in use at MC, including CCN, On-Campus Recruitment, and Job Fairs
  • Assist employers with College Central Network platform and facilitate the posting of jobs in a hands-on, direct way if necessary.  
  • Use College Central Network to review, evaluate and approve/disapprove employers and job postings. 
  • Use College Central Network to communicate with employers and job seekers and generate reports.  
  • Host virtual employer information sessions and job fairs using Zoom or other platforms.  
  • Connect employers to appropriate staff to schedule On Campus Recruitment visits.   

Takes a Leadership role in planning and hosting large job fairs (in April) on each campus, as well as major-specific, niche job fairs (both virtual and in-person) periodically throughout the academic year.

  • Collaborate with other staff in SES to coordinate publicity efforts to promote job fairs
  • Handle all facilities, parking, room reservation, and setup planning as well as producing table maps and signs for the events
  • Identify and invite appropriate employers to niche fairs, ensuring that 5-20 employers are on hand for each event

Manages employer module on College Central Network

  • Daily evaluate all new job postings on the online job board (College Central), approving those determined to be legitimate
  • Review all new requests for employer accounts on College Central Network, double checking employer websites, internet review sites, linked in, and sometimes calling or using other methods to research the legitimacy of the employer
  • Communicate with employers regarding minimum wage requirements and Fair Labor Standards Act guidelines governing when it is appropriate for internships for for-profit entities to be unpaid
  • Create accounts and post positions on behalf of employers who do not have access or ability to work on the online site.
  • Email employers and/or students, when necessary, as a follow up for a particular position - apprising students of a change in a posting they had looked at, or warning students of a suspected fraudulent employer whose posting they had looked at.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, career development, social science, or a related field providing an understanding of the job subject matter.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in talent acquisition, employer relationship development, or employment services.
  • Knowledge of the federal, state and local laws applicable to employment services.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, organization, coordination, talent acquisition, and employment services.
  • Knowledge of needs assessment, the local labor market and hiring trends, contact management systems and other technology related to employment services.
  • Skill in verbal and written communications, relationship development, team building, collaboration, and conducting presentations.  
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically in the development of employer outreach plans.
  • Ability to establish and maintain affirmative professional working relationships with a culturally diverse student and employer population.
  • Ability to successfully manage workload.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Global Career Development Facilitator, Project Management (PMP), Resume Writing, Employment Interviewing, or other nationally recognized career/employment credentials.       
  • Skilled in technology labor exchange platforms, online job boards, CRM software. 
  • Experienced with Zoom/MS Teams or other virtual meeting/event platforms.
  • Experienced and proficient at event planning, organization and promotion.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communications, relationship development, team building, collaboration, planning events (job fairs) and conducting presentations.  
  • Knowledge of local labor market and employer needs.
  • Knowledge of the federal, state and local laws applicable to employment services.

Hiring Range $61,529  to $79,977 per hour/annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.  Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
