A postdoctoral position is available in the Molecular Development of the Immune System Section lead by Dr. Michael Lenardo at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH. Dr. Lenardo’s lab specializes in discovering novel genetic immune diseases. By characterizing the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions, the lab can also focus on creating immunotherapies to be used in clinical studies.
The NIAID intramural research environment, provides extensive opportunities for collaboration, and allows scientists and clinicians to undertake high-risk, high-impact laboratory- and clinic-based investigations. Researchers have access to a wide array of intellectual, technological, and research resources, including animal facilities and dedicated, high-quality technology cores in areas such as imaging/microscopy, chemistry/purification, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, genomics/DNA sequencing, transgenics and knockout mice, arrays/molecular profiling, and human genetics/bioinformatics.

A background in immunology or genomics is preferred, although applications are also invited from individuals with experience in other areas of biology. All applicants must have Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. level training and fewer than five years of postdoctoral experience. The successful applicant will be guaranteed a stipend for two years (including family health insurance coverage) with the option to renew annually upon mutual agreement, up to a maximum of five years.
