Ph.D. with seven years of applied research experience in a related field. A Master's degree and ten years of applied research experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.

Position Description:

The Research Scientist will function as a key member of the core research team at the Matoba Laboratory of Biopharmaceutical Research.  The position requires a self-motivated, highly skilled researcher with more than 5 years of experience working in immunology, histopathology, and relevant laboratory experience post-Master's degree. 

The Research Scientist is a senior member of the research team who, in addition to responsibility for design and execution of sophisticated biomedical research projects also has responsibility for training and supervision of students, postdoctoral fellows and research technicians to achieve proficiency in immunotherapeutic and vaccine development research practices.  The scientist must have expert-level skills in biomedical laboratory research.  The candidate must be prepared to work a flexible schedule, sometimes after hours and on the weekends. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and execute in vitro and in vivo research experiments in BSL-1/2 laboratories
  • Analyze research data using appropriate statistical tests
  • Prepare data for publication; draft research papers and technical reports
  • Train and supervise research technologists, students and post-doctoral trainees in the research team
  • Review and revise laboratory policies and procedures
  • Ensure laboratory research compliance CPM, University, City, State and Federal regulations
  • Perform research and administrative tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 5 years of experience with immunological and histopathological analyses
  • 2 - 3 years' experience working with recombinant protein production
  • First-author publications in peer-reviewed literature in immunology, pathology, infectious diseases, inflammation, or relevant fields.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
