Job Summary

Manage, design, conceptualize, create, and oversee all visual text and imagery concepts for Midland College. Conceptualize, design, and produce print and digital material that communicates ideas, recruits students, promotes College events, generates goodwill, and informs. Conceptualize and develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines, and reports, etc. Supervise social media and graphic design team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in advertising, digital arts, graphics design/arts, or related program
Minimum of two years of experience creating and producing print publications, advertising, and digital promotions
Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suites software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Copywriting experience
Excellent proofreading skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Strong design skills (typography, layout, imagery, and color)
Ability to design across multiple mediums (print and digital)
Previous experience working with print shops
Familiarity with Canva
Ability to interface with others in a professional manner
Self-starter mentality; ability to identify what needs to be done and take the initiative to complete the project; take an idea from concept to final draft
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Detail-oriented
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
Ability to work from a creative brief
Ability to work in a fast-paced, energetic environment
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College auto insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications



Essential Functions

Manage all college print pieces and publications, including conceptualization, design, print, production, and dissemination
Conceptualize and create college publications, print, and digital collateral to market/promote college programs and services, recruit students, generate goodwill, and inform constituents
Conceptualize and create animated graphics for digital and social media platforms and the Midland College website
Conceptualize and create web-based ads (display ads, graphics for websites, email graphics, etc.)
Conceptualize and create logos and designs for swag and infographics
Communicate and work with various College departments and individuals to produce print and digital materials that promote Midland College programs and services
Communicate with ad agencies and print shops to ensure that messaging and branding are consistent
Supervise part-time social media coordinator and ensure that social media graphics maintain college branding and messaging
Supervise part-time graphic designer
Provide support to the Office of Institutional Advancement and Midland College Foundation for College- and Foundation-related events
Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Use of manual dexterity
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive from office to other locations on and off campus
Duties indoors and some outdoors
Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town

Security Sensitivity

All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary

$40,000 per year (annualized salary)

Max Salary

$45,000 per year (annualized salary)

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
