Teacher Residency Site Associate (Hourly)

Job Description Summary:

The Teacher Residency Site Associate serves a critical role within the teacher preparation model. Teacher Residents, having met prerequisites for a Teacher Residency, complete their placement as a district-hired employee during a full academic year while ?nishing required ACC TCP coursework and other certi?cation requirements. Site Associates serve four major roles in supporting Teacher Residencies: (1) they are a liaison between ACC TCP and campus/school district, (2) advise and track Teacher Resident progress through the program along with other ACC TCP staff, (3) build and maintain positive relationships with Teacher Residents and Host Teachers by providing relevant professional development (e.g., co-teaching models), and (4) serve as an instructional coach for the Teacher Residents.

Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities

ACC TCP and Campus/District Liaison

  • Collaborate with district and school administrators to select high-quality Host Teachers and con?rm candidate placements

  • Build positive relationships with pertinent Campus and District personnel

  • Meet monthly with the Campus Administrators assigned to the Teacher Residents on their campus to review progress and address concerns

  • Collaborate with campus instructional support staff as needed

Advisor

  • Track Teacher Residents’ progress throughout the program at designated quality control gates

  • Communicate regularly with Teacher Residents and ACC TCP Teacher Educators to facilitate candidate and program success

Support for Co-Teaching Models/Relationships with Host Teacher

  • Plan and execute Teacher Residency Orientation for Teacher Residents and Host Teachers

  • Plan the scope and sequence of the co-teaching models for the cohort, tailored to the district and campus calendars

  • Provide Teacher Residents and Host Teachers with professional development regarding implementation of the co-teaching models

  • Facilitate weekly formalized feedback meetings between Teacher Residents and their Host Teacher

Instructional Coach for Teacher Residents

  • Supervise one cohort of Teacher Residents

  • Build trusting relationships with Teacher Residents to foster a positive culture of feedback with all stakeholders

  • Collaborate with campus personnel to support Teacher Residents

  • Collaborate with Field Associates supporting Teacher Residents to ensure cohort data is accessible and can be leveraged to inform support provided and program changes

  • Conduct walkthroughs (ACC Observations) outside of TEA-required Observation Assessments to collect data and provide ongoing support to Teacher Residents

  • As needed, design and implement intervention plans

Quali?cations, Education, and Experience

  • Holds an active teaching certi?cate in the State of Texas

  • At least 3 years of successful teaching experience, preferably on a high-needs campus

  • Masters degree preferred, but not required

  • Experience as an instructional coach or specialist preferred, but not required

  • Other pertinent preferred experience: team leader, PLC lead, campus advisory council, mentor or cooperating teacher, district trainer for professional development, etc.

Other Requirements

  • Meet all of the hiring requirements to be employed by Austin Community College

  • Meet all district requirements to be on a campus

  • Trained and calibrated on the T-TESS evaluation tool

  • Competent in G-suite and other online platforms

  • Someone who can
