Job Description:
The Circulation Technician is a full-time career service position located on Pensacola State College’s Milton Campus. The Circulation Technician will assist in the management of the circulation desk and serve as the initial point of contact for library patrons. The Circulation Technician must be familiar with basic computer applications and be able to learn new applications, keep and report accurate user library records, assist students, faculty, and community with basic library technology, participate independently in a variety of specialized library activities, and refer library users to appropriate resources, staff, or faculty members for assistance. The successful candidate must be able to resolve issues effectively and independently, as well as work with other staff to research and solve problems. This position requires the availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Coordinator, Academic Support, Milton Campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency and two years full-time office/clerical experience using Microsoft Office software (or college standard software) are required. College coursework may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with Windows-based programs; basic understanding of computer systems and applications; ability to work with the public and demonstrate excellent customer service skills; demonstrated organizational skills; ability to work independently; and ability to use discretion and confidentiality when accessing student/patron records.
ANNUAL SALARY: $23,400.00 ($12.00/hour)
