Job Description

Position Summary

Victoria College is recruiting for a full-time, benefits eligible, nine-month tenure track Art Instructor position to begin in the Fall 2023 semester. Instructional areas will include drawing, design, painting, art appreciation, and art history.  Position may include the role of Gallery Coordinator.  We are looking for an engaging team player comfortable with traditional, interactive television, and online/hybrid assignments. Class size is usually limited to 35 students. A successful candidate will compassionately commit to rigor and retention through campus partnerships at the departmental, divisional, and institutional levels. Committee work and other duties will be assigned by the department chair or dean.  Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats such as face-to-face, online, and Interactive Television.

Starting earned monthly salary for the nine-month position is $5,138.56.  The earned annual salary is paid out over 12 months.

Duties & Responsibilities

Regular faculty members help students achieve learning outcomes by teaching assigned classes in accordance with established guidelines and policies and participate in advising and committee assignments, other academic and institutional support activities, and supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications


Required
A Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in art.  Will consider May 2023 graduates.  Experience with, or willingness to learn, online course development and teaching.

Preferred
Master of Fine Arts Degree with at least 18 graduate studio hours in drawing/painting.

 

Physical Demands

  • Exhibit keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to twenty pounds.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Bend, kneel, reach.
  • Utilize telephone system.
