  • Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Managerial ll level position. Starting salary range: $58,486.00 - $66,114.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Coordinator for Student Engagement & Diversity is responsible to creatively develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate engagement, student leadership, diversity initiatives, programs, and workshops; which enhance the overall student experience and support the overall educational mission of Student Life and the college as a whole. This position is responsible for direct supervision and management for Student Government, diversity programming, and the Food Pantry. This involves providing ongoing support services, training, budgeting oversight, consulting on diversity issues/topics , and providing approvals and verifications for student activity fee allocations, funding, and spending. Additionally, the position supervises and oversees the Student Engagement and Activities Specialist, assists in the management and training student employees to ensure services, programming , and activities from the Student Engagement & Diversity Office foster and promote student engagement, student success, persistence, and retention. The position will also develop and implement integrated programming to advance diversity and intercultural awareness, support to underrepresented student populations as well as increase diversity awareness and world citizenry. The Coordinator is also responsible for developing and executing training for diversity, equity, and inclusion for the campus community. The Coordinator will also work with community partners with opportunities relevant to the services the Office of Student Engagement & Diversity offers when possible.

  • Contemporary knowledge of student development theories, principles, practices, and human development theories.
  • Knowledge and experience of other cultures and customs.
  • Contemporary knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics and issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of available college and community resources.
  • Contemporary knowledge of effective supervision principles and the ability to apply in a professional team environment .
  • Knowledge of relevant college policies, procedures and practices with the ability to answer questions and/or interpret in order to apply these policies and procedures correctly in various situations.
  • Knowledge of effective customer service techniques with the ability to present ones self and the college in a positive and professional manner.
  • Knowledge and skills to operate a wide variety of standard office equipment (computers, printers, telephone, fax, copy machines, etc.).
  • The ability to assess the needs of LCCC students in order to provide intentional, data informed, programs and educational opportunities.
  • The ability to create and implement programmatic strategic operational plans enhancing and providing services within Student Life as well as the LCCC organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • The ability to make independent judgments, work autonomously, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to train and direct student staff in customer service protocol.
  • Ability to react calmly and act professionally in emergency or high conflict situations.
 
Physical/Mental Demands:
  • The essential functions for this position require the ability to work in a laboratory setting this includes working with laboratory equipment, manipulating instruments, and working with chemicals. Required personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be utilized at all times
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions. For lifts exceeding 50 pounds, an assisted lift technique must be utilized

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution; majoring in communication, education, international studies or related field of study.
  • At least two years of experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • A comprehensive understanding of diversity, intercultural, and social justice development in student services work.
 
Prefered Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution; in international studies, education, counseling, student services, communication, or a related field of study.
  • Experience in an educational setting with programming and program development.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
