Job Description

Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Physical Education to begin August 2023. Reporting to the School of Education, responsibilities include classroom teaching of lecture classes (Health, Intro to PE), various activity classes (recreation and outdoor adventure), and online courses. The successful candidate will teach 18 contact hours per semester, in addition to student advising, assessment activities, and committee work. Faculty are expected to advance the College's focus on student success and completion and will work closely lease awith the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025 which may be reviewed by clicking on the link below.

Required: Bachelors Degree in physical education and Masters Degree in physical education, exercise science, health or closely related field.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred: Experience teaching activity and lecture -based classes; college teaching experience; ability to work in a collaborative environment; experience in online course delivery; ability to use technology; academic advising; excellent written and oral communication skills; and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
