Peer mentors have a general responsibility for serving as a supporter, assisting first-year or returning students in their personal adjustment to the college and working closely with staff. Each Peer Mentor will be assigned at least two TRIO-SSS mentees.
Peer mentors will also hold office hours where they can assist students, welcome visitors into the office, and assist with administrative tasks such as making copies, filings, making phone calls.
A peer mentor will enhance CLC’s endeavors to increase retention and foster the educational, career, interpersonal, and social development of students.
The peer mentor is expected to be flexible with their schedules to work with mentees. Must be a leader, friendly, supportive, dedicated, goal orientated, respectful, motivational, and enthusiastic.
-Must be an active TRIO-SSS student with a minimum GPA of 2.5
-Must be a CLC student enrolled in a minimum of three (3) credits during the summer 2019 term or six (6) credits for fall
-Previous work experience in peer mentoring or customer service
-Ability to successfully relate to diverse student body
Total Hours per weekup to 10 hours per week
Flexible and based on the needs of peer mentees. Office hours dependent on class schedule. Total hours not to exceed 10 hours per week.
