Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park. Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

The PT Specialist III provides assistance and training, audits transactions to adhere to policy and procedures, runs reports, analyzes data, and reports audit findings to Senior Business Manager. This position provides assistance to the Senior Business Manager with training the Division of External & Employer Relations (DEER) staff in operational procedures for purchasing, travel and expense and accounts payable, the finance module, and processing daily tasks involving budget and financial transactions. The Specialist III is also responsible for supporting the DEER division by executing job duties to ensure effective operational support of the department, while providing clerical, analytical, administrative and operational support. This position executes job duties to ensure effective operations of department. Reviews and analyzes reports, records, and directives, and confers with others to obtain data required for department activities
Analyzes financial procurement card accounts and transactions. Reports and records violations
Provides training and assistance on purchasing guidelines to requestors and division managers. Enters requisitions for the DEER division as needed. Provides assistance with Office of General Counsel contracts and procedures
Assembles materials for budget preparation and assists in budget monitoring
Monitors and controls resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department; Submits requisitions, and reviews and approves/denies purchase requests in accordance with the budget
Provides instruction and direction to personnel on accuracy of direct pay requests and accounts payable guidelines. Verifies transactions for accuracy and processes direct payments for processing
Trains and assists staff on purchasing, and travel and expense transactions
Creates budget journal, journal entries, and budget transfers as needed within the division. Performs year-end processes following Account Payable and Procurement guidelines.
Performs research relevant to area of specialty; Develops, monitors and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases, reports, and presents findings to internal constituents at a variety of levels
Serves as point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding contracts, gathers additional information for OGC as needed. Creates relationships with current and new external vendors based on department needs
Assists Senior Business Manager with tracking contract updates and Board Agenda Items for the division
Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Work Schedule & Conditions:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
