As a MBI Officer, the Associate Provost of Academic Affairs and Assessment manages the Academic programs and support efforts provided by the educational group for the two schools at Moody. Working collaboratively with the Provost, the Associate Provost is responsible for the oversight of four general areas: Academic Affairs (undergraduate and graduate committees); Faculty Development and Evaluation; the Center for Teaching, Learning and Assessment; and Educational Innovation (including Moody Distance Learning). The Associate Provost leads the four areas in creating, securing and producing sustainable academic programs and data that support ongoing mission fulfillment and financial viability for the Education group. The Associate Provost serves as a member of the Provost’s Cabinet, assisting that team in coordinating the areas of student life and student enrollment to ensure that we recruit, develop, retain, encourage and support a diverse and quality student body to engage missional academic programs.

  • Agrees with and supports the doctrinal position, mission, values, and standards of Moody Bible Institute and meets the academic and professional qualifications of a faculty member with the rank of full professor (Ph.D., Th.D. or Ed.D or equivalent)

  • Advises the Provost on all matters relating to the academic affairs and assessment functions of Moody. Serves as a member of the President’s Council and Executive Team, and serves, as appointed, on campus-wide committees.

  • Provides leadership to direct reports to assure that faculty and the curricula fulfill the mission and academic goals of the Institute.

  • Works with the Provost’s Cabinet in a collaborative relationship that serves the academic responsibilities incumbent upon servicing the two school model.

  • Manages the academic affairs in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, mentoring him/her in essential job functions.

  • Manages and assesses the assessment personnel and programs.

  • Coordinates with the Associate Dean of Faculty Development and the Division Chairs to ensure consistent evaluation of faculty in support of the educational programs and mission.

  • Works with Academic Affairs and Division chairs to Initiate programs and efforts that will contribute to the welfare of students and employees and enrich the community within which learning takes place.

  • Oversees the preparation, monitoring and control of all academic budget units under his /her area.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Provost or in cooperation with the Provost Cabinet.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 years of demonstrated successful experience in progressively responsible teaching and educational leadership positions in a college setting, including experience as a educational administrator and at least 5 years in leadership

  • Track record of building, leading and mentoring high-performing teams that produce timely, cost-effective, high-quality results

  • Comprehensive understanding and success in leading academic functions including faculty

  • Strong leadership, analytical and strategic planning skills, including evidence of ability to work across organizational boundaries to achieve results

  • Proven capacity for collaborative leadership of employees

  • Demonstrated excellence in communications, both written and verbal; strong interpersonal skills

  • Highly collaborative style, positive attitude, commitment to continuous improvement and strong work ethic grounded in honesty and integrity

  • Ph.D., Th.D., Ed.D or equivalent.

  • Able to work in the US Legally without sponsorship

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in a Christian college strongly preferred.

Work Environment/Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This is a full-time position and requires approximately 5% travel.
