Job Summary

College of Lake County is currently seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach one or more of the following Health Information Technology courses:
HIT 117: Basic CPT Coding
HIT131: Basic ICD-10-CM Coding

The courses must be taught in accordance with current program approved course descriptions, course outlines, textbooks, and syllabi. Prepare lecture and lesson plans, teach lecture and/or lab portion of class, and respond to and grade student work. Use appropriate academic software (e.g. Blackboard Course Management system, Power Point, etc.)

Baccalaureate degree and Certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and one year tested experience in health information management.
OR
Associate degree and Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and two years tested
experience in health information management is required.

Required Qualification

Baccalaureate degree and Certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and one year tested experience in health information management.
OR
Associate degree and Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and two years tested
experience in health information management.

Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction.

Desired Qualifications

Previous teaching and/or training experience.

Knowledge or experience with course management systems such as Blackboard.
