CE Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the District. LSCS accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. CE Instructor hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, CE Instructors may not work in excess of 19.5 hours each week. Applications submitted on-line are accessed and reviewed by hiring managers as the need to hire arises. There is normally no communication with part-time applicants unless they are selected for interview.
Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College System accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.
Teaches GED classes
Creates instructional plans in working with adult learners to increase their capacity to complete their GED and navigate their community resources
Creates and utilizes unit driven tests to determine subject mastery, growth, and/or developmental areas
Implements individual learning plans and continual assessment of students
Determines progress comparing baseline and progress scores using standard error of measurement and following adopted procedures
Evaluates the scores of a group of students to make a determination as to the level and appropriate curriculum for that class based on overall scores
Explains test scores to students
Interprets assessment scores for student service delivery
Maintains official student records and daily sign-in sheets
Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret test scores; knowledge of state guidelines regarding test scores
Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated problem-solving ability
Demonstrate instructional skills
Knowledge/ability to use common office software (i.e. Microsoft Word & Excel) to the following skill level in order to maintain records/test scores: Word processing: performs sorts and mail merges for mass mailing, certificates, etc.
Spreadsheets: designs routine spreadsheets, sets up routine formulas, and updates data to established spreadsheets
Physical Abilities: Minimal physical effort is required
