Job Summary

As a member of the Development Office Team the Director of Development for Corporate and Alumni Relations identifies, cultivates and solicits charitable contributions from companies and individuals for the Colleges’ fund raising priorities including capital projects, and special programs. Also responsible for the guiding the Alumni Leadership Council and building a strong alumni program. Maintains a portfolio of 50-75 potential and current donors and is responsible for the stewardship of those generous donors. Support the development team in the execution of other fund raising related activities as needed

This is an at-will position

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Contribute to fund raising initiatives and success by identifying and qualifying corporations who can provide additional support through philanthropic resources. Increase charitable donations by cultivating and soliciting corporations through a series of fund raising visits, activities and events. Maintain a portfolio of 50-75 potential and current donors and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies in line with the College’s priorities and the donor’s interests. Oversee stewardship of a high-quality donor experience through correspondence, donor engagement, professional proposals mailings and acknowledgments. Represent the College at external functions and events. Responsible for building and managing the overall Alumni program for the College. Create an annual strategy and maintain liaison with assigned Deans and Schools. Build a program that supports the Alumni Leadership Council and engages our alumni in the comprehensive campaign.Create and manage alumni affinity groups to provide opportunities for alumni with common interests to stay connected to SLCC. Oversee all alumni communication and social media, and web site. Manage the SLCC Alumni Council and Alumni Association. Responsible for entering and maintaining accurate data and contact reports in Razor’s Edge CRM system. Develop and write detailed prospect profiles in consultation with the Director of Advancement Services and create set ask amounts for each potential donor. Coordinate necessary stewardship and donor relations activities. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree preferred.
Strong preference given to candidates with extensive development background especially in higher education or health care. Strong preference given to candidates with history of writing persuasive, clear, concise and viably attractive proposals, Preference given to candidates with background and knowledge of Utah Companies and their current giving priorities, Detail-oriented, organized, deadline drive.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree required.
Five (5) plus years of professional experience in sales, marketing, and fund raising.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Ability to develop a comprehensive plan for corporate giving and raise funds from this group
- Ability to develop a comprehensive plan for Alumni Relations for the College.
-Knowledge of fund raising techniques that support a multi-functional and diverse organization.
-Proficiency in project management and the ability to work under pressure of deadlines and funding goals.
-Maintain open communication with the Executive Director of Development and the other Development Officers to ensure that the office is kept abreast of the status of corporate opportunities.
-Act as a resource for other Development officers that may contain a corporate component.
-Excellent interpersonal and and human relation skills
-Ability to work collaboratively with and for diverse populations
-Thorough knowledge of generally accepted bests practices, principles and ethics in fundraising.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in proposal writing and editing.
-Ability to successfully function in a team environment, work collaboratively, form solid relationships, close deals, and solve problems independently.
-Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
-Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
