Preferred Qualifications: Master Degree in TESOL or in a closely aligned field and/or Master Degree in any field with a TESOL certificate
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1.Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication.
2.Thorough knowledge of pedagogy of second language acquisition.
3.Ability to manage classroom of widely varied levels, ethnic, linguistic, socio-economic and cultural diversity.
4.Excellent knowledge of second language teaching methods.
5.Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
6.Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college
The instructor would need to have flexibility in times that he/she would be available since several of the teaching positions require weekend and evening assignments. In addition, the instructor would need to be familiar with language immersion coursework, content-based teaching/learning, and student-centered methodologies.
1.Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
2. Be fully prepared with a syllabus and instructional plans for each class session in accord with the stated objectives of the course.
3. Comply with institutional rules and regulations.
4. Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms.
5. Stay current with developments in the field of instruction.
6. Assume responsibility for classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary, appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift, at times, 15-20 lbs.
• Good eye/hand dexterity.
