Bunker Hill Community College is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at three satellite locations in the Greater Boston area. Job Description:

Assistant Director of Adult Education is responsible for the overall coordination, administration, and educational leadership of BHCC Adult Education Programs. Responsible for day-to-day programmatic operations. With the Director, oversee the hiring and training of all DESE funded staff; facilitate curriculum development to insure it is aligned with the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education; oversee required assessment administrations; coordinate, and communicate with AE partners and WIOA shared customer partners to advance students next steps to education, training, and employment. Administrative duties will support program post-secondary outcomes and partner coordination including facilitation of data collection and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all staff and faculty at both adult education locations Boston and Chelsea

  • Coordinate the hiring, training, and professional development activities of staff and faculty.

  • Facilitate monthly program management meetings for staff and faculty.

  • Facilitate monthly curriculum and assessment meetings for faculty.

  • Conduct classroom observations faculty fall and spring semesters.

  • Oversee all required DESE assessment testing.

  • Monitors LACES data collection and entry.

  • Collaborate with WIOA shared customer partners

  • Keep up-to-date on current education research and best practices

  • Responsible for supporting the program with leadership and administration to enable career pathways to college

  • Attend professional development workshops and conferences.

  • Meet with students individually, in small groups, conducts intake for new students, provides personal counseling, and academic and career advising , as needed

  • Reviews student data in the DESE data base, LACES and college SMS

  • Co-write reports for DESE

  • Attend monthly division meetings.

  • Attend monthly AE curriculum planning meetings.

  • As permitted: Attend professional development workshops and conferences.

  • Obtain mandated DESE certification in required assessments: TABE Clas E and BEST Plus

  • New hires are required to attend the 15 hour DESE new staff and advisor trainings.

 

Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Education, Administration or other related field.

  • Experience in administration of MA adult education programs preferred.

  • Experience working with adult learners and diverse populations.

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.

  • Experience in budget development and management.

  • Excellent organizational skills and excellent computer skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

 

Additional Information:

 

Salary: $76,050.00/yr. (Grant-funded position)
