Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000/year

Erie County Community College (EC3), Americas newest community college, is a comprehensive community college located in northwest Pennsylvania currently offering various associate degrees and certificates. EC3 is focused on enhancing the countys economic condition by increasing educational opportunities for the diverse population in Erie County and assisting individuals to enter careers that provide family-sustaining wages.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Director (PD) supports the development and maintenance of Allied Health programs while advocating for high academic standards consistent with the mission of the College. The
Program Director will provide oversight and leadership for the Allied Health programs, including
LPN, PCT, and others. The program director is responsible for SBON reporting, program development, equipment and facilities, instructor recruitment and support, and program-level financial responsibilities. The Director will also have instructional responsibilities.

The Program Director oversees college nursing and allied health courses, facilities the learning process by designing and implementing appropriate and meaningful professional development activities for instructional staff and evaluates student learning by creating and implementing well- designed assessment tools. Additionally, the Director participates in curriculum development, advises students, keeps accurate records pertaining to students and adheres to all institutional policies and procedures.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Assume responsibility for the structure as well as the daily operation of the program/discipline, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness.
  • Assume a leadership role in the continued development of the program/discipline, including an ongoing process for periodic and systematic review of program effectiveness together with methodology for program revision based on the results of these reviews.
  • Make recommendations to the Dean for selection of supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks for courses of study, and the scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilities.
  • Participate in program, division, and college-wide advising and registration activities.
  • Assist the Dean in the preparation and supervision of departmental program budgets.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop a professional development plan that is approved by the dean and participate in those activities that achieve approved professional development activities.
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
  • Maintain membership and participation in professional organizations as appropriate for the position.
  • Participate in on-campus professional development activities.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

  • Assume responsibility for teaching assignments as recommended and approved by the dean.
  • Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing inclusive instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful and that maximize equitable student outcomes.
  • Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content includes program, state, and accreditor-approved competencies.
  • Assume responsibility for accurately maintaining all required college records, including attendance and grade reports.
  • Compile resources of specialized materials for outside reading assignments to be shared with adjunct faculty in the program.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

  • Recommend instructors' teaching assignments to the Dean.
  • Support new instructors and assist in orienting them to the job's responsibilities and to the

College's operations and policies.

  • Recruit, recommend for employment and supervise part-time instructors,
  • Assist with interviews, recommend candidates for employment and mentor new faculty.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY

  • Engage in work groups and shared governance across campus.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment, engagement, retention, and completion efforts.
  • Maintain contact with professional organizations.
  • Assist in planning and conducting advisory committee meetings.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Have current knowledge of nursing practices for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse.
  • Have current knowledge of practices in other allied health fields in the colleges curriculum

(i.e., PCT) and assemble advisory boards to assist in the oversight of these programs.

  • Understand and be committed to the unique nature and role of the college.
  • Understanding of assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Computer skills, to include MS Office, a student information system, and collaboration apps and software (i.e., Blackboard and MS Teams).
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, specifically with experience working with diverse populations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited institution

OR

Bachelors and RN degrees, from an accredited institution and
Currently in an MSN program or plan to attain an MSN degree within five (5) years of hire.

  • Must hold, and maintain, a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum two (2) academic years of training or teaching experience

OR

Within the first three years of employment, have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including, but not limited to, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment. (Per the PA State Board of
Nursing).

  • Minimum two (2) years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Minimum two (2) years of management or leadership experience.
  • Ability to travel and work at multiple campuses or offsite as necessary.
  • Flexibility to teach morning, afternoon, and evening classes as needed.
