Job Description


Postdoctoral positions in Molecular Toxicology at the University of California at Los Angeles

These are two year appointments, with the possibility of renewal for a third year.  The stipend as determined by the recent agreement between UC and the UAW will be from $64,480 to $77,327 per year depending upon years of experience. Health insurance and other benefits will be provided. Funding for these positions will be partially provided by a NIEHS T32 training grant in “Molecular Toxicology” at UCLA, and the postdocs must be citizen or a noncitizen nationals of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment. Single and married housing is obtainable for postdoctoral fellows at UCLA at below market rates.

The postdocs will perform their research with one or more of the fourteen faculty of the training grant, who represent a subset of the faculty of the Molecular Toxicology Interdepartmental Program (IDP) as described in http://moltox.ph.ucla.edu/ .  These faculty’s research fall into 7 overlapping tracks: neurotoxicology, air pollution, toxico-epigenetics, nanotoxicology, big data and computational toxicology, gene-environment interaction and susceptibility, and alternative model organisms and predictive toxicology. The faculty investigate a wide chemical space including chemicals that people are exposed to via air, water, food, or direct dermal exposure, including air pollutants, pesticides, metals, industrial chemicals, nanomaterials, environmental tobacco smoke, microbial products and certain physical agents. Of note, the T32 faculty use a variety of different organisms for their research including bacteria, C. elegans , Drosophila, zebrafish, mice, and humans. The postdoctoral fellows will participate in the activities of the Molecular Toxicology IDP, including training in research skills, and will have access to the huge number and variety of academic resources at UCLA.
