Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Software Engineer will support the development of a collaborative autonomy infrastructure that research groups studying artificial intelligence and autonomous systems will use for research and development, testing and evaluation. This position will develop, enhance, test, maintain, secure, and
control access to software used to control autonomous robots and vehicles and to simulate autonomous systems. This includes working with software developed by other organizations. This position will comply with University of Maryland and government rules regarding IT security and will develop
training materials for researchers and students who wish to access and use the software. This position will interact with the faculty and students at the University of Maryland and researchers from government and corporate partners and will help them integrate software and test it on different hardware systems.
This position reports to an ArtIAMAS Principal Investigator (PI). The following provides a list of
essential duties; the allocation of these and other duties will be determined in coordination with the ArtIAMAS PI.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of professional
experience in a related area. A Master’s degree can be substituted for the 2 years of the
professional experience. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to present ideas effectively. Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong
customer service skills and ability to work as a team member. Excellent time management and
organizational skills.
Preferences:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred.
