Position Details

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities

EF Exercises decision-making and judgment to oversee a functional area of the campus store. Negotiates with multiple vendors for purchase, shipping, pricing terms, delivery and returns of course materials and merchandise for resale. Prices, displays and markets merchandise based on customer preference, retail trends, faculty requests, prior sales history and profitability with consideration of the academic calendar.

EF Hires, trains, schedules and provides direction to part time staff in conjunction with the Campus Auxiliary Services Manager.

EF Ensures compliance with data security standards (PCI) is maintained online and in the stores. Attends training, maintains skills and provides technical guidance on the
computerized inventory and point-of-sale system (PRISM). Works extensively with
inventory, data management and cash drawer reconciliation on PRISM, Banner and other computer programs.

EF Coordinates the appearance and content of the online store and processes the online
purchases.

EF Maintains current knowledge in a functional area, such as the retail trends of general
and college markets or publishing and book markets to ensure the stores are responding
to changing standards of course/materials delivery such as electronic and digital
content, etc. Represents the College at conferences and trade shows.

EF Ensures excellent customer service, based on Auxiliary Services Standards, is provided
daily to a diverse customer base in person and online.

EF Oversees daily recordkeeping procedures that include appropriate accounting reports/records in accordance with College regulations. policies and procedures. Advises Auxiliary Manager of inconsistencies or discrepancies that may occur. Suggests and collaborates on improvements in processes when needed.

EF Manages inventory levels based on the academic year. Performs annual and periodic
inventory checks in the functional area to keep the inventory system updated and
accurate.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent and three years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of customer service standards and ability to resolve customer complaints.

Ability to problem solve.

Extensive knowledge of personal computer and related software applications.

Knowledge of accepted accounting procedures and internal control methods including cash and physical inventory.

Knowledge of inventory techniques.

Knowledge of retail floor merchandising and stock control procedures.

Knowledge of processes for academic course materials procurement and vendors.

Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Ability to exchange ideas, information, and opinions effectively with others to formulate
procedures and/or arrive jointly at decisions.

Organizing and coordinating skills.

Ability to transport bookstore items weighing 25-50 pounds from point A to point B.
