Job Description
The Resident Advisor (RA) facilitates the social, academic, and personal adjustment of students to the residence hall and College. The RA develops a sense of community among residents as members of our residence hall and active participants in the residence life system. The RA serves as a positive role model to residents and peer staff members. The RA enforces the rules and policies of GBC Housing and the College. The RA acts as a liaison between residents and College administration.
 
Qualifications:
  • Preference to those who have completed 12 credits
  • Individuals must be enrolled in at least 9-12 GBC degree seeking credits
  • Enrollment in over 12 credits is permitted only with prior written approval by the Housing Coordinator
  • Preference to those who have stayed at least one semester in GBC Housing
  • Must have and maintain a 2.75 Cumulative GPA in good standing
  • Willingness to learn, good judgment, experience, and maturity are a plus
  • Offer and acceptance of employment is contingent upon a clean background check
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the supervision of the residence facilities, responding to all requests and emergencies during duty hours.
  • Design and implement experiences for residents that enhance the social, educational, community, and personal development of residents.
  • Serve as liaison between the housing program and Housing residents.
  • Able to work 10-30 hours per week plus weekends, varied hours.
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Always expected to be a good role model and ethical decision maker.
  • Report directly to the Housing Coordinator
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Salary and Benefits:
 
Resident Fee Remuneration (provided private housing, utilities, and cell phone use for GBC housing business only), plus an additional $2,500 per semester
