Manages complex comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, and electronic communications, for large, highly visible organizations.
Translates dean's office strategic priorities and initiatives into compelling written, verbal, or audiovisual communication products for internal and external audiences.
Manages and leads coordination with unit leaders across Haas and external organizations to create briefing materials for dean's event appearances.
Manages executive communications needs for Haas dean and senior leaders, including (but are not limited to):
Researching topics for upcoming conference presentations, public statements, speeches, and talking points.
Writing speeches and talking points on a variety of topics, ranging from school priorities and vision to crisis communications, for internal and external audiences.
Creating communications in the dean's voice.
Developing presentation materials.
Managing and writing the dean's social media activity, website presence and updates, and externally facing marketing materials.
Works with departmental or college administration to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long- and short-term strategic communications plans.
Develops communications plans and campaigns for dean and senior leaders around Haas strategy and key priorities in collaboration with the Executive Director of Communications and/or the Assistant Dean for Marketing & Communications. Campaigns may include internal and external speaking appearances, conferences, written communication, and promotion of new school-wide initiatives, and more.
Provides advice and counsel to departmental or college administration on all aspects of communications, including strategic planning, effective messaging, and problem resolution.
Provides advice to dean and senior Haas leaders on communications strategies, effective messaging, and crisis communications in collaboration with the Executive Director of Communications and/or the Assistant Dean for Marketing & Communications.
Advises dean's office on appropriate event or speaking opportunities for Haas dean or leadership to participate in.
Trains dean and senior leaders for media interviews.
Produces a variety of communication pieces in a variety of venues including written, visual, and electronic communications.
Ensures accuracy, brand alignment, and inclusive language and content in all executive communications.
Ensures production of high-quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints.
Identifies specific communications needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements.
Works with management to build an organizational brand and create tools for positioning the organization strategically with the organization's clients.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of technical applications to direct professional technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its mission, vision, goals, policies, and infrastructure or the ability to learn; strong knowledge of current affairs and issues in higher education.
Advanced skills to create, develop, and implement long and short-term strategic communication plans.
Advanced skills to advise and consult management on all aspects of communications, ranging from developing effective communication strategies to appropriately responding to inquiries regarding sensitive or complex issues or information.
Demonstrated expert written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated active listening and political acumen skills.
Proven track record in providing communications support to senior leaders.
Proven track record in online communications channels and social media.
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, project management, and problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution skills.
Knowledge of relevant news media and other communication channels.
Thorough knowledge of or the ability to learn campus protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience up to $124,200.00, at 100% time.
