The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: coordination of instructional programs and/or teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
Assignment may include instructing classes, which could result in an Instructor/Coordinator split assignment.
Under the supervision of the Dean of Career Education and Workforce Development, the Apprenticeship Faculty Coordinator will plan, develop and coordinate the American River College (ARC) Apprenticeship Program in accordance with college, state, federal and the Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) guidelines.
In addition, the Apprenticeship Faculty Coordinator will ensure compliance with district and Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) guidelines, develop and maintain partnerships with apprenticeship programs, and facilitate student completion of apprenticeship certificate and degree programs.

Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers (LRCFT) contract Article 2 (The initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8).
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
● Coordinating and facilitating the ARC Apprenticeship program with Directors of the Apprenticeship Training Centers.
● Working with the Training Center directors, coordinating the scheduling of apprenticeship Work Experience (WEX) classes, and interviewing, orienting, supervising, and evaluating apprenticeship faculty.
● Overseeing the organization and development of apprenticeship program goals and objectives, legal compliance, procedures, budgeting, curriculum development and revision, and program review.
● Coordinating and maintaining required documentation and student records for the ARC Apprenticeship program, including working with faculty, staff, and management to establish and maintain time lines and submission of required documentation.
● Teaming with the Work Experience Coordinator, Pre-Apprenticeship Coordinator and other instructional and student services faculty and classified staff.
● Developing and implementing new apprenticeship programs.
● Serving as a liaison in obtaining California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) and DAS approval for all updates and changes to the apprenticeship curriculum and programs.
● Representing the college at local, regional and state apprenticeship activities, including (JATC) and California Apprenticeship Council meetings and graduations; and providing leadership for the college and district in the area of apprenticeship.
● Negotiating complicated political landscapes to develop strong partnerships with the apprenticeship program directors and staff.
● Assisting apprenticeship faculty to improve their instructional skills and abilities.
● Helping apprentices to pursue their academic goals by attending apprenticeship classes.
● Explaining how to achieve certificates and degrees.
● Performing other duties as assigned.
The assignment may include day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend, and/or off-campus classes.

Total Hrs per Week/Day7.5 hrs/day
1. Have an associate’s degree AND four years of occupational experience in a subject matter area to be taught; OR six years of occupational experience, a journeyman’s certificate in the subject matter area to be taught AND completion of at least twelve (12) semester units of college level coursework, in addition to apprenticeship credits; OR, six years of occupational experience AND ten years of experience as an apprenticeship instructor; OR hold a California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline area; OR, the equivalent.* All degree must be from an accredited institution, completed by July 1, 2020.
2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
