Position Summary & Essential Duties

The following duties, responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's), and physical requirements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. SUMMARY:
Works closely with the Temple College president who is responsible for Fundraising. Supports the strategic fundraising efforts of the college by designing, implementing, evaluating and refining the college's resource development activities. Personally identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards gift donors and prospects in accordance with performance targets set in collaboration with the President of Temple College. Provides training and direction to the Temple College Foundation who serve as community ambassadors assisting in the fundraising. Fosters collaborative relationships with development colleagues, develops internal processes and procedures, and aligns marketing and outreach efforts for multiple development programs and initiatives within the Foundation and Resource Development Department. Works closely with the College's Chief Financial Officer on presenting financial progress to the Foundation Board.

Qualifications (Required and Preferred)

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master's Degree with eight (8) years of directly related work experience.
Proven and verifiable track record with fundraising
 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent:
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards gift donors and prospects including individuals, companies, corporations, and foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set in collaboration with the President of Temple College and the Foundation Board.

  • Assists and/or leads in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives. This includes creating a database of donors or potential donors.

  • Coordinates day-to-day unit-based development strategies and activities to ensure their integration into the college's overall development program.

  • Conducts research to identify prospects and creates strategies to match prospects' interests to the priorities of the college.

  • Will utilize one or all of the following: prospect research, gift processing software, online giving strategies and technology, social media and other emerging technologies to reach potential donors.

  • Researches, writes, edits, and/or oversees the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials in support of the Foundation's fund-raising activities.

  • Develops systems to encourage and increase Foundation Board involvement in annual and/or major gift fund solicitation, personal giving and donor recognition.

  • Consistently seeks to build relationships with the Foundation Board, donors, faculty/staff members, alumni, community partners, and student leaders. Is expected to attend all fundraising and key College and community events, and be active in relevant community initiatives.

  • Plans and conducts programs and activities designed to increase the visibility of Temple College and the Foundation to internal and external constituencies.

  • Prepares all the Foundation Board of Director's meeting materials and minutes of the meetings. Manages the Foundation's records and historical data.

  • Leads the Foundation Board of Directors through periodic mission, vision and goal setting. Provides training to the Foundation Board.

  • May train and supervise staff and student employees as appropriate to the needs of the Foundation.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities & Physical Demands

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Working knowledge of budget development, fiscal administration, and foundation fiduciary responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of development practices including annual campaigns, major gifts campaigns, endowments, investment policies, scholarship programs, donor recognition, and community relations.

  • Effective leadership and ethics techniques, including Servant-Leadership.

  • Supervisory practices and principles.

  • Understanding of the community college philosophy and mission.

  • Knowledge and manipulation/use of social media.

SKILLS:
  • Maintaining an established work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

  • Excellent planning, execution, facilitation, and training skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, in both oral and written forms.

  • Demonstrated managerial and administrative skills.

  • Intermediate to advanced use of a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. 

ABILITIES:
  • Ability to think critically and creatively.

  • Ability to set and achieve fund raising goals; preparation and reporting of proposals and gifts.

  • Ability to connect with potential donors in a way that meets their commitment to invest in the mission and vision of the College.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.

  • Ability to work with diverse staff, faculty, students, and donors.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.


PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Light physical activity is required with occasional lifting of objects up to 15 pounds. Travel to offsite centers, meetings, conferences, donor or potential donor visits is required.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office setting and out in the community meeting with donors and prospective donors. Public speaking is part of the role at functions.  Data entry is required. Use of Audio/Visual equipment.
 
WORK SCHEDULE:
Schedule may vary due to departmental commitments.
 
HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK:
40
 
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Bookkeeper-Foundation, Administrative Assistant, and Student Workers.
