The Opportunity

 

Houston Community College System (HCCS) --- a unified system of academic college education, career and technical education, adult education, distance learning, customized business / industry instruction with on-site workforce training to advance the business community, and international educational partnerships --- is seeking an Associate Vice Chancellor Enrollment Management and Success for this expansive college system. Chosen leader will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life, and community service. 

 

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Student Services, the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Enrollment Management and Success will evaluate and administer several key Enrollment Management programs.  The Associate Vice Chancellor is responsible for the strategic planning, and management and administration of student enrollment and retention including direct oversight, assessment of programs, staffing, and budget for the following services:  Admissions, Outreach and Recruitment, Registration, Testing, Contact Center, Mobile Go Center, and Enrollment Management Technology Analytics.  The AVC will also assess enrollment management strategies and outcomes for Houston Community College as well as assist the Vice Chancellor for Student Services in providing and analyzing enrollment services data.

 

This executive is responsible for evaluating programs and services to improve student enrollment and retention, including assessing programs and services to produces outcomes aligned with strategic priorities; developing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated enrollment management plan to position the College to achieve future enrollment and retention goals; providing strong effective leadership and creative vision for the development, modification, implementation, and monitoring of program and procedures for strategic recruitment, including expanded admissions outreach, enrollment, and retention of a diverse, multi-cultural student body.   In addition, the Associate Vice Chancellor is responsible for the working closely with Communications and Marketing to develop innovative and effective communication and marketing strategies to attract students to the college.

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Student Services, the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Enrollment Management and Success will evaluate and administer several key Enrollment Management programs. The Associate Vice Chancellor is responsible for the strategic planning, and management and administration of student enrollment and retention including direct oversight, assessment of programs, staffing, and budget for the following services: Admissions, Outreach and Recruitment, Registration, Testing, Contact Center, Mobile Go Center, and Enrollment Management Technology Analytics. The AVC will also assess enrollment management strategies and outcomes for Houston Community College as well as assist the Vice Chancellor for Student Services in providing and analyzing enrollment services data.
 
Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effectives and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable law, regulation, policies and procedures.
 
Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations.
 
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
 
  1. Evaluate programs and services to improve student enrollment and retention, including assessing programs and services to produce outcomes aligned with strategic priorities.;
  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated enrollment management plan to position the College to achieve future enrollment and retention goals;
  3. Provide strong effective leadership and creative vision for the development, modification, implementation, and monitoring of program and procedures for strategic recruitment, including expanded admissions outreach, enrollment, and retention of a diverse, multi-cultural student body;
  4. Provide administrative leadership and oversight of the Enrollment Management Offices and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations;
  5. Keep the Vice Chancellor of Student Services fully informed on emerging issues and brief the Executive Cabinet on all matters that have the potential for significantly affecting the College and surrounding communities;
  6. Work closely with Communications and Marketing to develop innovative and effective communication and marketing strategies to attract students to the College:
  7. Conduct research, gather data and prepare reports on program activities in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research;
  8. Analyzing the competitive landscape of higher education, identifying and recruiting new student markets;
  9. Develops and manages student budget(s); 
  10. Responsible for the protection and safe-keeping of confidential data acquired during the course of work; and
  11. Model inclusive excellence through specific actions that support the College's diversity goals in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of talented and diverse faculty and staff.
 QUALIFICATIONS 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
 
EDUCATION
Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education leadership or related field required; PhD in Higher Education or related field preferred.
 
EXPERIENCE
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible administrative experience within a successful enrollment management and student engagement program in a higher education environment.
 
 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Have a thorough understanding of Enrollment Management and key success indicators;
  2. Ability to lead a strong team, developing innovative recruitment strategies, setting enrollment objectives, optimizing the use of technology, and improving the overall recruitment and enrollment process;
  3. Knowledge and competency with technology and information systems supporting recruitment and retention;
  4. Results-oriented with demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  5. Excellent organizational, communication, customer service, decision-making, judgment, problem-solving and delegation skills;
  6. Computer literacy that includes familiarity with student databases and Microsoft Office applications; 
  7. Ability to work effectively on a team and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced dynamic environment; and
  8. A strong commitment to Houston Community College’s vision and mission.
